The board said in a press release that it is also welcoming all public input when deciding upon applications. Many groups have already expressed interest in bringing casinos to the five boroughs in areas such as Hudson Yards, Times Square, Coney Island and Willets Point, near Citi Field in Queens.Įach applicant must pay a $1 million application fee to the state’s Gaming Commission, according to the board’s website.Īll applications must also be reviewed and approved by a community advisory committee. The board said it will review each application and decide on the locations based on three main factors: how many jobs a potential casino plans to create, how much revenue it can bring in and the impact it would have on the surrounding area.
